Installation-, safety and maintenance instructions

The construction, operation, maintenance and repair of a photovoltaic system requires in-depth expertise. Therefore, all work may only be performed by appropriately qualified and authorised skilled workers.

The PREFA installation instructions contain general guidelines which must also be adapted to the local, national and location-specific construction regulations, standards and environmental regulations. Occupational health and safety precautions, as well as all accompanying standards and trade association guidelines must be observed.

When transporting PREFA materials, handle the packing units carefully. Secure open units or sheet metal parts against falling in strong winds. Protect cardboard packaging stored on the roof against the rain. The structural-physical requirements must be taken into account. Impurities such as drilling dust or mortar residues on coated or bare aluminium parts must be removed immediately. Where photovoltaic systems are installed on PREFA roofs, an agreement about snow protection measures should be reached with the owner depending on the prevailing snow load. Follow the solar panel manufacturer’s installation instructions. The potential equalization between the individual system sections and the connection to a lightning protection device must be carried out according to the respective national guidelines. In the event of non-compliance with, or disregard of, the installation guidelines or failure to use all system components, PREFA shall assume no liability for any defects or damage arising therefrom. The load-bearing capacity of the PREFA mounting system as well as that of the supporting structure must be verified by structural calculations. PREFA provides structural verifications for the mounting system based on a preliminary design. For applications that deviate from this preliminary design, a project-specific calculation by a certified structural engineer is required.

Note

A static design or inspection in combination with sub-structure framework components from other providers is not performed by PREFA.

The system installer is responsible for the professional and standard-compliant design, as well as for compliance with the product structure.
