Material expansion

The aluminium composite panels may only be used at temperatures of –50 °C to +80 °C. Allow for material expansion when deciding which type of fastening system to use (glued fastening or mechanically screwed down/riveted fastening).

To absorb thermal expansion, a joint must be made in the panel joint with a width that depends on the change in dimensions to be expected. However, we recommend a width of at least 8 mm. The panel must be attached with fixed and sliding points.

The thermal expansion coefficient of the PREFABOND aluminium composite panel with FR core is 0.024 mm/m/°C.
