Surfaces and colour range

The extruded profiles come blank as standard but can be powder coated according to RAL, NCS and PREFA P.10 colours along the entire 6,200 mm length.

PREFA extruded profiles are manufactured from anodised material as standard. The surface of these profiles is almost entirely free of defects and the texture is fine-grained and homogeneous. With anodised profiles, it is advisable to order different areas or building components by side or surface from a single delivery. Colours may differ from batch to batch with colour anodising.

PREFA recommends that limit samples (light–dark) be defined during the colour selection consultation stage.

Note

The anodising of profiles must be organised by the customer and is not offered by PREFA.

When processing profiles with a bare surface, please note the following:

  • Bare aluminium is very sensitive to scratching; this must be taken into account during processing and machining. Due to the production process, fine scratches may be present on the surface, which do not constitute grounds for a complaint.
  • While the scratches do not affect the durability of the material, they can impair the appearance of the surface.
  • When working with and installing bare aluminium, perspiration from hands causes marks due to oxidation of the aluminium surface. The resulting imprints/stains are practically impossible to remove. Wearing gloves during processing can reduce this effect.
  • Bare aluminium has a natural surface that changes slowly and unevenly depending on environmental influences.

Note

Bare aluminium reflects light very well (reflection/mirroring). If reflections/mirroring on the façade cladding are undesirable, powder-coated surfaces must be used.
