As though tailor-made for each project

PREFA roof shingles are easy to work with. Many curved shapes, such as curved dormers (bat dormers, ox-eye dormers, pike dormers, etc.), can also be covered with the adaptable shingle. It also adapts to unevenness in the existing substructure to a certain extent, as is the case, for example, with the 400-year-old Wiesenhaus and its old roof truss:

Expert tip: The noise-insulating strip makes the PREFA roof shingle quieter

Aluminium roofs are quieter than their reputation would have you believe. Everyone perceives noise differently. The PREFA roof shingle has noise-insulating strips (FD.TEC) to keep noise levels to a minimum. For even more comfort in residential buildings, we recommend additionally using a thicker separation layer.

Still got questions about PREFA roof shingles?

It would be great if we could give you an overall price here or tell you that a roof tile or façade single costs such and such an amount. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple because each PREFA roof and façade needs to be carefully calculated by a specialist installer. Our professional roofers will give you an individual quote, tailored precisely to your requirements and the local conditions in which your house is located.

Metal roofs can be integrated into the exterior lightning protection system in accordance with the standard ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 62305-3. PREFA flat band roof panels (Prefalz and Falzonal) are therefore permitted as a natural part of the arrester and PREFA small format components (roof tilesshingleroof panelsrhomboid roof tiles) as natural components of the conductor (installation of an additional arrester and connection to the earth). Some standards stipulate exceptions according to which, for example, property at increased risk (e.g. potentially explosive premises) must be specially designed. The integration of PREFA roof and façade systems in the exterior lightning protection system must therefore be planned depending on the specifics of property in question. Information on the necessity and type of lightning protection on a property can be obtained from a lightning protection system engineer or approved electrician. Find out more about lightning protection here.

Thanks to their light weight, PREFA roof tiles, shingles and rhomboid roof tiles, FX.12 roof panels are ideal for covering existing old roofs.

Small hail stones cannot damage a PREFA roof with a stucco surface. In the case of extremely large hail stones, as with all roofing materials, functional damage cannot be excluded. However, even in an extreme hail storm, the piercing of a PREFA roof can almost certainly be ruled out.

Aluminium materials are largely corrosion-resistant and rust-free!

For both new buildings and renovations of old roofs, the roof substructure must be checked for a properly installed PREFA roof. In doing so, attention must also be paid to the minimum roof pitches of the respective products.

Depending on the product, PREFA surfaces are available either in a smooth finish or with stucco embossing. The material is further strengthened by the stucco embossing created by embossing rollers, making the aluminium less sensitive to machining marks and therefore easier to install.
