Manufacture horlogère du Locle: Reference objects
Introduction
The Manufacture Horlogère du Locle in Switzerland impresses with its extraordinary architecture, whose complex roofscape immediately catches the eye. Several sloping roof surfaces, striking towers and curved transitions characterise the building’s appearance and lend it an elegant, almost sculptural effect.
PREFA roof shingles in the colour P.10 black and PREFALZ in the colour patina grey were used for the roof cladding. The roof shingles emphasise the structure of the steeply sloping surfaces. At the same time, PREFALZ allows for flexible installation on curved and intricately shaped roof areas such as dormers, junctions and rounded sections.
The result is a harmonious interplay of design, functionality and sustainability that effectively highlights the architectural quality of the building. Furthermore, the low weight of the aluminium roof helps to ensure the sustainability of the historic fabric of the building.
