Hotel des Alpes: Reference objects

Introduction

The new hotel in Courmayeur, at the foot of Mont Blanc, is well aware of its impressive natural backdrop. Local-born architect Domenico Mazza drew his inspiration from the patterns that the snow leaves on the houses in the winter.

The size of the building meant that it could not be created using traditional architecture. None of the old buildings in the mountains has seven or eight storeys, so the decision was taken to use a contemporary material like aluminium in order to ‘protect’ the wood. The choice was made to use PREFALZ in P.10 PREFA white and P.10 anthracite.
