Beckerwyc House in Bekkjarvik, Norway: Reference objects
Introduction
A daring project can be found in Bekkjarvik, a small town on the island of Selbjørn in Norway. White wooden houses are lined up around the harbour basin and a dark, futuristic-looking building rests on the hill in the background. It is the Beckerwyc House Boutique Hotel.
The slanted, dark brown façade elements make a contemporary architectural statement. The building is covered with PREFA wall rhomboids 44 × 44 in nut brown, which cover the structure like a protective skin. As a reference to the landscape, the colour scheme of the hotel was intended to relate to the rocky terrain.
