The Dutch Barn: Reference objects
Introduction
The steel framed dutch barn from 1960 was originally used for agricultural purposes. Set in curtilage of farmhouse and buildings, the object has been listed grade 2 in 1986. So when conversion envisaged in 2017 with adjoining traditional brick/stone/pantile barns listed building consent was required.
The arched roof shape required a flexible material. The decision was made in favour of PREFALZ in the colour Patina Grey. The versatile and robust material also wraps the façade of the ground floor in the same colour. The upper floor of the main house was clad in wood and ideally matches the grey aluminium shell.
